Character
Name: Nagihiko/Nadeshiko Fujisaki (And Temari and Rhythm)
Age: 13
Gender: Biologically male, which would be the Nagihiko personality, but often passes as his own twin sister, Nadeshiko.
Canon: Shugo Chara
Canon Point: In the middle of the arc where Nagihiko is the new Jack, but Rhythm has not yet hatched. (As an attempt to try and keep being eggless to start from breaking him/her)
History:
Like all children of the Fujisaki family, Nagihiko was told at a young age that in order to properly understand dance well enough to teach it, he must spend until around the age of 12 as the other gender. A Fujisaki dancer should be able to dance all female and male dances with equal skill and expertise. So until he was 12, Nagihiko got to spend very little time playing basketball, or goofing around. Instead he worse feminine kimonos and dresses and kept his long hair up in a ponytail with pretty barrettes and spent his youth focused on dancing as Nadeshiko, in hopes of one day being as good as his father.
Spending so much time as Nadeshiko, and stubborn enough to want to be GOOD at it, Nadeshiko started to develop more than just motion that differed from Nagihiko, but a whole seperated personality. More, because he could only be Nagihiko at home, it was Nadeshiko that formed life long friendships, chased dreams, and attended school.
Nadeshiko, seemed, to most, the picture of feminine grace and poise, even as a child. She was pretty and sweet and kind. But no matter how feminine and graceful she was, it was never enough. And one day she dreamed, she wished, she gave all of her being to wishing that she could be perfectly feminine, kind, and graceful, but still be someone who could protect those she loved. And from that dream, an pink egg was born, decorated with small flowers. When that Egg hatched, Nadeshiko met Temari, a part of her soul that was her dream personified.
And Nadeshiko wasn't the only child to hatch an egg. Her friend Tadase Hotori showed up one day with Kiseki, a small king Chara that helped him to overcome his crippling shyness and lack of confidence. There was Kukai Sohma, who was exactly like his Chara, Daichi. All sports and fun and rough housing affection. If not for Temari's constant fretting over getting her kimono dirty over silly sports... Nagihiko might have emerged to challenge Kukai. At everything. And challenges and competitions became the hardest situations in which Nadeshiko stayed herself. Until the day she discovered that her friends didn't instantly know she was a boy when she got competitive. They saw it as an aspect of who she was, and who she was coming to be. And they still loved her for it. It became, with dance, among the few traits the twins had in common. There was one more friend as well. Yaya Yuiki, who was overly energetic and affectionate. Yaya's chara, Pepe was the big baby that Yaya always wanted to let herself be. She was their little Peter Pan.
The four were brought together by the mysterious chairman to become the Guardians. Despite being an adult, he was aware of the Charas, and charged them with a sacred duty. Well. Several. One was on the mundane side, serving as something of a student council to aid the other children, to stand between them and the adults. Tadase became the King, for Kiseki would have it no other way. For her grace and poise, Nadeshiko was named Queen. Kukai became the Jack, and Yaya their Ace. But they had other duties. One was to guard the Humpty Lock, that would be worn by a child of legend, one with three Shugo Charas. Another was to use the powers of their Charas to protect the other students from threats more serious than those wrought by teachers. What threats and what powers were unknown for a time.
The Guardians were taught legends about the Charas. How all kids had an egg in their soul, their would be selves, yet unseen. But how for some children those dreams were too strong, and those eggs hatched into Charas. Like theirs. They were taught about a special hearts' egg called the Embryo which could grant any wish. Kiseki declared that they would find the Embryo so Tadase could be the ultimate king of the world. It sounded like a fun adventure so Nadeshiko and the others agreed to help.
The four were together for years, and developed a sort of routine. After school was paperwork in the Royal Garden. This was when Nadeshiko discovered a talent and passion Nagihiko never had. Baking. She would make their tea for them, with full snacks an treats, every day. She already awoke early every morning to practice dance, so it only required getting up that much earlier.
Nadeshiko's days were filled with dance and baking and school and friends and work. There were whole days when she could forget Nagihiko even existed. Nadeshiko had long since stopped being an act, and had become who she was.
And then Amu showed up.
Not when she transferred in, of course. As Guardians, they were all aware of the pink haired new girl. No, the day that changed things for Nadeshiko was the day that they noticed that the new girl... suddenly had eggs. Not a single egg, but three eggs. She was the one they had been waiting for. But her attitude was... prickly. A perfect challenge. Tadase sent Nadeshiko to convince Amu to join the Guardians, and she happily complied. Tadase made the mistake of not specifying how, however, and pictures of him might have been used as a bribe, since like most girls in their school, Amu had a massive crush on him. Unlike most girls in their school, however, Amu seemed actively hostile to both him... and more surprisingly... to her. Which, of course, just made befriending her all the more fun.
Amu ran through excuses the way Nadeshiko ran through flour in the kitchen. And eventually she agreed to join. But it wasn't just Amu's hesitance that made those first days quite so exciting. No, that came from a sudden surge in Batsu-tamas, Batsu-charas, Amu's shocking abilities... and Ikuto.
Ikuto and his sister Utau had once been friends of Tadase's. More recently they were enemies, working for the sinister Easter, trying to gain the Embryo for who only knew what nefarious purposes. To Nadeshiko it was all still school yard games, at first. Ikuto and Tadase never hurled more than insults and barbed words at each other. But then Ikuto attacked Amu. The first time was before they were friends, and Nadeshiko hung back, because it was far more fun to let Tadase be her knight in shining armor, and more useful for getting her to join.
But Nadeshiko started to genuinely like Amu - in her own way - while helping Amu make a birthday gift for Tadase as trying to convince her... and when Ikuto burst in to their kitchen to attack Amu? Nadeshiko lost it. She Chara-changed (which was one of the so-called powers they had to learn) with Temari. The naginata was traditionally a woman's weapon, so it fit the Nadeshiko persona, it was also a weapon of grace and skill.... not that she showed either when she tried to use her naginata to slice Ikuto in half. Stupid cat boy was too fast for her, but in the process Amu's tart was ruined. Ikuto all but fled after Amu's third chara hatched and made an even bigger mess, Thanks, Su, and Nadeshiko tried to console the upset young girl.
That was about when she decided. Amu was HER</> toy, and no one was allowed to break her toys but her. Not even Ikuto. Between Nadeshiko and the Charas, they were able to cheer Amu up, and instead of a tart they used the remaining dough to make cookies.
Nadeshiko arranged to meet Amu so they could go to Tadase's house together to give him their gifts, then called Tadase and told him she was supposed to meet Amu, but was running late, could he go keep her company so she wouldn't worry....? Her toys were hers, and this was how she played with them. And really, the first time Amu triggered the King reaction from Tadase was hilarious. So worth it.
Eventually Amu did join up and Kukai decided that since she was the only one who could transform (Chara-nari) and was needed to fight the Batsu-tamas and Batsu-charas, she needed special training. Which was amusing to watch. Nadeshiko loved those days, because all her friends/toys were together and she was with them.
Even though she couldn't transform herself, Nadeshiko always found ways to help Amu, as did the others. And Amu had the amazing power to put Batsu-charas back in their eggs, and then turn those Batsu-tamas back into Shugo Chara eggs, returning them to the soul of the child who had lost them. Or rather... the child who had the eggs pulled out of them and turned dark by Easter.
The battle with Easter grew more and more heated. But otherwise the days were wonderful. Nadeshiko had Amu-chan over for a sleepover, the first she had ever dared. And it had gone wonderfully. And Amu was just adorable in her spare kimono, dancing.
Nadeshiko grew closer and closer with her friends. Before Amu, she had kept all of them, even Tadase, at arm's length, calling them all by their last names, and remaining formal. But while what she called them never changed, she let them in more and more into her heart. The word toy and the word friend were still intwined in her mind, but she grew to love them as both even more.
And then her family called a meeting, and she was told that it was time to shed Nadeshiko, and become Nagihiko. When she had been younger, she dreamed of that day desperately. Even Temari was born of a dream of being 'good enough' at being female that she could be Nagihiko again. But now? Nadeshiko was fully established, and had a life she loved. She didn't want to go back to being a boy, she didn't want to lose her friends. She wasn't given a choice.
She tried out being Nagihiko once, and actually met Amu. Oh, it was amusing watching Amu squirm, not knowing who she was, and wonderful talking to her in a new and different way. But then it was time to say goodbye.
As part of the transition, Nadeshiko was to go touring the world, learning new dances. And much of that happened. But that was also when Nagihko had to start learning how to live and act as a male, and of course most importantly, how to dance as a male. He couldn't go back to Japan until he mastered being Nagihiko. And he wanted to. Desperately. He missed his school and his friends and hated that he wasn't there to help them fight against Easter.
It was during this time that Temari went back into her egg. Nothing Nagihiko could do would wake her. And he tried. He tried so hard. He tried everything he could think of. Nothing worked. And then one day another egg, twin to the first, blue where Temari's was pink but otherwise identical appeared. Nagihiko protected both eggs, praying they would hatch, they would awaken. But neither did. And he didn't even know which dream had birthed the second egg, or what the Chara within would be like.
And then it was time to return to Japan. As Nagihiko. The official story was that he had been studying abroad his whole life until now, and now Nadeshiko was. But the school was told, and the chairman pulled aside Kukai and Tadase and told them, asking them to help Nagihiko transition. Kukai had graduated, and there had been a new Jack, Kairi, who had since transferred out. A new girl named Rima was the Queen's chair. Nagihiko wasn't even sure he should be a Gaurdian, since Temari was in her egg and the new egg hadn't hatched. But the Jack's chair was open, and his friends were insistant.
In someways, learning to be Nagihiko, to separate him from Nadeshiko was easy. Nagihiko didn't have to be swayed by Tadase's sparkling puppy dog eyes as the girls were. And when Kukai asked him what it felt like wearing a dress... instead of a demure flushing answer he pinned his friends to the ground and forced the female uniform on them. To the delight of the female members of the Gaurdians who walked in in the middle of it. Yaya still had that picture on her phone, he was sure.
But somethings were harder. Like seeing Amu-chan again for the first time. And not going to make sweets when Yaya complained that she was hungry.
Also, everyone else seemed to have gotten so much more powerful while he was gone. Even the new girl could chara-nari. Instead of Amu being the only one who could fully transform and the rest of them supporting her, Nagihiko was the only one who couldn't transform, and felt increasingly useless and frustrated. He tried to hold on, but every day it was harder and harder to face Rima's animosity - oddly over Nadeshiko's friendship with Amu - and to face his own feeling of not belonging. This was the gender and life he was supposed to have, but saw no place for himself in it.
Except that he started to discover small things. Little things. But important. Like the fact that even if he couldn't use powers in a fight, he still saw the battlefield in a way the others didn't and could direct the battle, he could lead. Tadase, despite being King's chair not only allowed this, he subtly encouraged it. Rima of course, refused to listen. Which was when he discovered something else. He was self-sacrificing in a way that Nadeshiko never was. When an attack aimed at Rima, he jumped in the way, acting as a shield, because that was all he could do, where Nadeshiko would have had the self confidence to knock the attack away, powers or no powers. He also learned, again thanks to Rima, that being a troll openly could be fun...
Personality:
Troll. First and foremost. Nadeshiko and Nagihiko are both massive trolls. Nadeshiko is incredibly subtle about it, Nagihiko can be subtle, but is more often in your face about it. Nadeshiko is the type to come up behind Amu and blow in her ear to scare the life out of her, then act innocent. Nagihiko, when Rima offered him a hand up out of a pit, took the hand, grinned, and pulled her in after him.
Protective. Both personalities are extremely protective of their friends. That generally seems focused on the one with the least ability to protect themselves. So where that had once been Amu, it became Rima for Nagihiko, even though Rima hated him. If a friend could defend themselves, though, Fujisaki - either "twin" generally lets them.
Dance. He was born to dance. She was born so he could dance. Instead of resenting dance for creating Nadeshiko, Nagihiko embraces it. He is a little shy about it at times, but when he gets moving, he comes alive. Especially on a stage.
Competitiveness. As if this canon point it has not shown with Nagi as much as it has with Nadeshiko, but later canon points show it is clearly still there. As Nadeshiko, competition has a chance of sparking a chara-change against her will, under which influence she loses little things like morals... willing to win even if it requires cheating. But team efforts she is better about keeping control during.
For the rest, it has to be split by gender.
Nadeshiko:
Nadeshiko works hard to be graceful and to master dance. Unlike Yaya she does not attend a ballet academy, but rather trains at home under the strict guidance of her family. She trains early before school, and late into the night. But her friends are also important to her. She's a sucker for Amu when Amu is upset, and will generally turn the world upside down if she can to cheer Amu up.
She loves baking, and takes pride in people enjoying what she has made for them. She also loves the quiet steady work that comes with the more mundane side of being a Guardian. Her chara-changes are all about either protecting people she loves, or winning competitions.
She is soft spoken and kind. More than half the girls in school look up to her, or want to be her, and she quietly loves that. She is aware that all eyes are on her when she walks into a classroom not her own and quietly and regally accepts that as her due. She only lets her friends see her as less than perfect, and even then rarely. She exudes confidence even then.
Nagihiko:
Nagihiko is a loosely tied bundle of insecurities wrapped in a sense of powerlessness, as of the canon point. He finds moments of confidence, usually when pushed by Rima, when he finds himself pushing back. These moments often surprise him. He is very much trying to figure out who he is, and who he wants to be, so his Chara will hatch.
He desperately wants to be of help to his friends, but feels like without a Chara, he has little too offer. Plus he's always aware of the line between himself and Nadeshiko. Of having to be careful not to respond to things she knew that he didn't.
He hated that he was forced to be Nadeshiko, but now he's not sure how to NOT be her. He's trying to find himself, and even with Tadase and Kukai helping, he often feels like he is clutching at reeds to keep from drowning.
Samples:
Nadeshiko with Temari:
Nadeshiko walked in the sun and smiled at the small chara subtly. Very subtly. She was in public after all and very few people could see the small fairy like child that floated over her shoulder. It simply wouldn't do to look insane, after all. But she did give small smiles and regal nods to the people she passed, hair swaying in its ponytail behind her as she made her way to the park grounds.
She might not know much, yet, about where she was, she might be seperated from her friends and family, but she knew a few basic things. And one of those was that if you spread out a blanket on a warm day, over the grass, and laid out foods... people would come. And she could learn from them what she needed to learn to get back home to Amu-chan and the others.
Finding a spot that was perfect, where her blanket would be half in the sun and half in the shade, she set down her basket and shook out the rolled cloth with gentle wrist flicks that made it billow before landing softly. She sat on the edge of the blanket, legs folded gracefully under her, skirt smoothed so as to show nothing a young girl should not show.
From that position, she reached into the basket and set out a thermos of tea, and several rather lovely cups, and some baked goods. She had traded with someone who had a kitchen. Use of their kitchen and supplies for half of what she baked. She was still left with a number of small tarts, two kinds of cookies, and several individually wrapped slices of cake. She also set out plates and utensils.
Temari settled between her and the basket, and she subtly slipped the Chara a cookie to nibble on, before pouring herself some tea. Then she sat, as though all she had to do on a lovely warm day such as this was drink tea, and she waited....
Nagihiko:
He wasn't good at this. Slipping between two buildings he fished out the blue egg and stared at it, willing it to hatch. It didn't. Closing his eyes, he put the egg back in its pocket in his blue cape. He ran a hand through his long loose hair, then left the ally and merged back into the foot traffic of the area again. Nadeshiko was the one who was good at gathering information, talking to people. He didn't have a charming smile, or her cute way of standing. Her dimples looked all wrong with his boys' uniform and blue cape and tie. People helped Nadeshiko because she was charming, personable, pretty, and cute. Because she was a little girl who could make anyone feel at ease with just a few words and a kind smile.
He couldn't. He didn't know how to talk to people. Not as himself. He wasn't even sure who he was anymore. What had they said? They pulled him from memories? Whose memories? Who, knowing Nadeshiko bothered to remember him at all? His family? Amu? Tadase? Kukai? Certainly not Rima. Probably not Yaya or Utau or Ikuto. Not his teachers. They all watched Nadeshiko grew up. They all looked at him and found something lacking.
Seeing a break in the crowds, he moved aside again and pressed against a wall, watching everyone pass, looking desperately for a familiar uniform and finding none. Finally, feeling a bit like Clark Kent, but even less cool, he found a hidden place, and changed quickly. It didn't take much. Hair pulled into a ponytail. Blue cape and shorts and tie were swapped for a red cape and tie and skirt. Not much he could do about the shoes, Nadeshiko's boots were hard to carry around, after all.
Nadeshiko took a breath and then smiled. "Temari, let me know when I can step out?" she asked, in her voice, feeling like it was too long since she had heard her own dulcet tones. Now she just needed to wait until there was no one who would notice that one twin stepped into the alleyway, and the other stepped out.

Vaikuntha
Moogle Name: In keeping with the secret gender swap, the Moogle will act as though its name and gender are different depending which "twin" it is with. With Nadeshiko The moogle will act and seem female and will go by the name Mau. With Nagihiko the Moogle will act and seem male and go by the name Odoru (Both are forms of "to dance" with Nadeshiko's having a lighter connotation)
Moogle Gender: Female, but will pretend to be male for Nagihiko's sake.
First Job: Dancer
Second Job: Tactician
Shugo Chara is a confusion canon, and I am happy to answer questions/elaborate as needed.
