CHARACTER
Name: Nadeshiko Fujisaki/Nagihiko Fujisaki (Temari/Rhythm are implied as they are part of Nagihiko's soul.)
Canon: Shugo Chara
Age: 13
Timeline: Soon after Rhythm hatches
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: N/A

Personality:

Nagihiko was born first. For reasons described below in the history section, he had to create a second persona, a female self that he could live as. That was how his "twin" Nadeshiko was born. Please note, while I will fill out a separate personality for each, this is ONE CHARACTER. He's just spent most of his life in drag, and has a very different way of acting, depending on which face he wears.

Nadeshiko Fujisaki is the female form. Nagihiko spent most of his life to date playing the role of Nadeshiko, to the point where sometimes she is the more comfortable and natural feeling skin. Nadeshiko is generally perky, sweet, kind, helpful, and almost painfully optimistic. She is the one who will smile brightly when everyone else is freaking out, and offer you tea when you’re feeling low.

Nadeshiko loves to help others and to show how sweet she is. She bakes and dances, but gives everything she is, gives her all for her friends. The people who matter most to her matter most to her, bar none.

She is a hard worker. From the paperwork that is the official face of Guardian business, to the real work the Guardians do – putting their lives on the line to protect the hearts and dreams of children, to her dancing. Everything she does, she works hard at, and she only takes breaks for the sake of her friends.

Nadeshiko, however, is also secretly something of a troll. She is willing to use that trollishness to help her friends and fulfill assignments. She also will be a troll just to amuse herself, however. Like sneaking up behind Amu to blow in her ear… or like trying to convince Amu to join the guardians by bribing her with secret pictures of Tadase, knowing that Amu has a massive crush on her friend and leader. I also suspect that Nadeshiko kind of took a perverse joy in fooling them all for so long, so thoroughly.

Nadeshiko’s other personality comes into play when Temari is around. Temari is the “who she wants to be. Temari is elegant, reserved, and generally calm. Nothing should ever dare to mess up her Kimono. However… Who Nadeshiko wants to be is a proper, refined, young lady… who can still protect her friends. So sometimes when her friends are threatened, she takes on that aspect of Temari; and anyone who can see Shugo Charas will see both Nadeshiko and Temari get stars in their eyes, and the hair decoration in Nadeshiko’s hair changes as she gains the courage, skill, and weaponry – a naginata - to defend her friends.

Oddly, this also comes out sometimes when she is challenged to a completion, mostly when challenged by her friend Kukai. This happens rarely, but is generally noticed. Even people who can't see the change in her eyes and hair ribbon can see the change in her personality and stance. They can also see the weapon if it appears.

The rest of the time, Nadeshiko is a bright energetic young girl who seems to be striving to be an elegant young woman, works hard, and puts her friends first. With a hint of somewhat hidden impishness.

Nagihiko, on the other hand… is trying to find himself. With his chara, Rhythm, he is more open, energetic, and athletic, but from the canon point I am taking him from, this is still very new ground, and he is still finding himself, even here.

Without Rhythm, however, Nagihiko is very different than Nadeshiko, his so-called twin sister. He is quieter and more reserved than even Temari, but not out of an old fashioned concept of what a proper Japanese woman should be, but because he isn’t yet sure how to react, who he should yet be. He’s also afraid of slipping up and revealing that he actually is Nadeshiko, which he almost does a few times.

Before he rejoined the school, he was a bit more open as Nagihiko. He loves basketball, and even flirted briefly with Amu before Nadeshiko flew off to study abroad. He is more open with the few who know his secret, and I think we get more of a glimpse of who he will be, in those moments…. Like when Kukai and Tadase ask him what it was like wearing a skirt, so he physically forces them both into the girls’ uniform of Seiyo Academy.

Also… As Nadeshiko, she was the Queen’s chair and had the Queen’s responsibilities. As Nagihiko, he is filling the Jack’s chair, which had been held first by Kukai, and then by Kairi, and Kukai and Tadase try to convince him that the Jack’s job is to wait on the King (Tadase) hand and foot, he goes along with it for just a short while, and then makes it quite clear just how far he is willing to be pushed with overt and fake obsequiousness and helpfulness that was anything but.

Nagihiko is the only Guardian to not have a Shugo Chara at least until recently, since he had Temari and Rhythm’s eggs, but Temari has gone back to sleep, and the other egg hadn't hatched until recently. This naturally created some awkwardness and a feeling of insecurity. However Rima, the current Queen, takes an instant dislike to Nagihiko; and her pushing at him over his not having a chara pushes him into defending his place there, into defending himself, giving him confidence, rather than pulling him further down.

He proves himself to be a good leader, despite being the Jack, and to have a real head for strategy. Not able to join the battle himself, he stays on the field, and calls orders to them, and when Rima refuses to listen and almost gets herself killed, Nagihiko shoves her out of the way, taking a glancing blow himself. In more than one occasion. Nagihiko is brave and self sacrificing. Where Nadeshiko would do anything for her friends, Nagihiko will go that far for those who hate him as well.

Nagihiko spends a lot of time seeming like he wants to hide - to hide behind the other Guardians, to hide behind the role of Nadeshiko, to hide behind this excuse or that excuse, and uses all his bravery for others. For the sake of other people. For himself he seems almost… timid. But as the series goes, he does start to come out of his shell more and more, even before the egg hatches. Getting dropped into another world, however, may undo some of that in the short term.

Background:

Nagihiko wikia
Nagi was the eldest born to the Fujisaki family in his generation. Family tradition states that if the eldest has any aptitude for dance - their dance studio has been lead by the family for generations - that child, male or female, will be trained to inherit. However... That child must learn all styles of dance, male and female both. Generally female dance is done first, to develop poise and grace at the root of all dancing he or she learns later. To this end, Nagihiko had to create a female persona - Nadeshiko - and not just dance as Nadeshiko... but live as her.
Nadeshiko's shugo chara, Tamari, was born from her desire to be the perfect delicate lady... but one who could still defend the people she loves.

While he was Nadeshiko, he met Tadase, and made friends with him and several others. She became the Queen's chair in the student council, and when Tadase announced (with help from his Shugo Chara Kiseki) his ambition to rule the world, Nadeshiko joined Kukai and Yaya in agreeing to help because it sounded like fun! Tamari, Nadeshiko's guardian character agreed to help... so long as she didn't have to get her kimono dirty.

While serving as Queen's chair, they found out about a girl who had three eggs. She was to join the student council as the Joker, and it became Nadeshiko's job to convince her to join. Ultimately she succeeded, and Amu joined the Royal Court, though she refused to wear the cape. Nadeshiko and Tamari (this part is not stated in canon, but my personal feeling on the matter) were probably quite amused and pleased with themselves that Amu's second chara - Miki - who seemed to have a crush on ever male chara EVER, never seemed to crush on Tamari. Mission successful.
For the sake of her friends, and to spend more time with them, Nadeshiko put her secret in jeopardy many times. She went on overnight trips, and one time when Amu was feeling incredibly low, invited her to spend the night visiting. When it came time to go abroad to finish her training, even knowing that she would come back as Nagihiko, she was torn. What had once seemed like a day to be wished for, far off in the distance, became a bittersweet thing, a mix of hope and fear, for she didn't know what she could remake of her friendships...when she was no longer herself.

When Nagihiko returned, the chairman introduced his male self to Tadase, and to the former Jack chair, Kukai. they pushed him into accepting the Jack's chair, despite the fact that Tamari had gone back to sleep in her egg and Nagihiko had a new egg, a second egg (a rare thing to have more than one) which had not yet hatched.

Of course, Tadase and Kukai knowing Nagihiko's secret led to the inevitable question of "What is it like to wear a skirt?". Rather than answer them, he decided to show 'um. Forcibly. No delicate flower, he.
He had to try and adjust to those who didn't know his secret, to remember who knew what, and what each of his personas knew. He brought messages from his "sister" for Amu, while pursuing a new sort of relationship with his one time best friend.

Abilities:
Dance. With the magical abilities he has (Admittedly less without the Humpty Lock/Amu) the primary skill that must be noted for Nagihiko is his dance. His skill. His poise. His grace. And his athleticism. He has studied forms of dance from all over the world, though Japanese dance is his primary skill set. He has also, in the last two years, gotten really into sports, using the grace and skills learned in dance on the court. He prefers basketball, which is not a new sill, but can play others as well.

Acting. The kid pulled off being a girl for most of his life. Most of the people who met him in both roles do not know they're the same person, including his best friend. Rima even comments on how it's easier to say somethings to Nadeshiko than Nagihiko, knowing they're the same person, making Nagi pull his hair up (the way Nadeshiko wears it) before she's willing to say a word.

Chara Bearer - here's where the magic happens, folks. Nagi is what is known as a "Chara Bearer", which means he has one (or more) Guardian characters. In the canon, they can generally only be seen by REALLY young children (3 or 4 at eldest), animals, and others who have or have had Charas of their own, though there are some exceptions. For pan-fandom, my default for fairness is to say that if someone has any magical affinity, they can see and hear the Charas.

The wiki for the series

Charas are small creatures that look like people and are the "who you want to be" to the child they are born to. They act as guardian angels of a sort, or like Jimminy Cricket was to Pinocchio, encouraging the child down the path towards the wish that created the Chara. The charas can loan some measure of their ability to the child, unlocking their potential early, and sometimes surpassing it for a short while. (Sorry, Ran, no matter how hard Amu believes in herself, she will never be able to fly without your assistance.) There are levels to how much a chara can "help" a child.

They can take the child over for just a moment (though Tamari never would, and as of this canon point, I don't believe Rhythm has either), to make them do or say some small thing that would push them along the road to the who they want to be.

They can loan a small amount of their abilities to the child by willing it so. Nadeshiko dances better with Tamari dancing beside her.

Character change - the child gets some small outward sign (visible only to those who can see charas) that matches the Chara. For Tamari it is the flowers in her hair, for Rhythm it is a pair of headphones. When this happens, some of the personality as well as the ability leaks through. Nagi gets more reckless, for example. With Tamari... it usually only happens when someone Nadeshiko cares for is threatened, so everyone thinks her who she wants to be is a "delicate lady who cans till protect those she loves" which... isn't that far off. When she Charachanges with Tamari, she gains the ability to summon a glaive and pretty intense strength, for a short time. (Think Nurkio from Fushigi Yuugi). She also gains speed, and a hit to her competitive spirit, which is really a hint of Nagihiko showing through. Since it happens so infrequently, however, it doesn't really give her away over much.

Charanari - character transformation - This is a full merger with their guardian characters, very like a magical girl transformation. They get special powers and abilities based on the transformation, and the chara is locked within them for the duration. I believe that as of this canon point, only Amu and Utau can change from one charanari to another mid-combat, and only those two have joined with someone else's charas. (there was a whole mini arc over how they each had a chara defect to the other side, though honestly amulet Angel is useless.)
For Nadeshiko, the transformation is called Yamato Maihime, and for Nagihiko it is Beat Jumper.
However, Nadeshiko/Nagihiko CANNOT CHARANARI unless the Humpty Lock is in play. I don't think it likely that he will ever try to get it, unless there is an Amu in play, because Amu needs that to protect herself against Easter. Neither Nadeshiko nor Nagihiko would knowingly do ANYTHING that might cause Amu to get hurt. So unless someone apps Amu in, or something massive happens in a plot, this section will not matter.

I will be playing both "Twins" though clearly never together, and the Charas. The charas are part of the character, and again with the exception of Amu and Utau, can't defect or exist independent of their chara bearer, though they can venture away from them every now and again for a time.

Nadeshiko:
[The image comes up on a lovely girl in a traditional Kimono with a beautiful flowered obi. She offers everyone a warm smile.]

"Hello! I just wanted to let everyone know that the Fujisaki Dance studio will be taking requests for private lessons. As there is no currency here, payment in the form of gifts of food, household supplies, or other items would be welcome. My brother and I offer training in many forms and styles, and will work with you one on one if you do not wish to join one of the classes."

"Of course, given our age, you might be skeptical, which is why I have prepared a free demonstration for tomorrow, in the park. I shall be dancing at the center of the park at six am, and will be available to take questions after. For those of you who prefer to stay up late, my brother will be in the park after ten pm to demonstrate some of the other styles that we teach. I really hope to see you all there!"

[She offers one more warm smile, her hands behind her back, eyes closed, head tilted slightly before she leans forward and cuts the the transmission.]

Nagihiko:
[A video goes out to everyone, but from the almost sneering expression on his face, this message really has an intended target. Namely anyone who wants to wipe that smug expression off his face. Anyone who could see magic would see a pair of DJ port headphones without a wire around his neck]

"Yo, Nagihiko here. And I've got a problem. See, I was told that there were people around here who didn't mind getting dirty. But I've yet to find a single person willing to try and take me down at Basketball. Think you got what it takes, then game on. C'mon, let's play some B-ball. That is... if you all aren't a bunch of girls...."

[He cuts the connection and the sneer falls away as the headphones vanish. He glares at his little Chara then shakes his head and sits on the basketball. If he gets a good game going, it'll have been worth it. Right?]
